my entire flock of 30 chickens, are sick and diseased with infectious coryza, all because i bought unvaccinated chickens. i am having to spend an 2hrs a day squirting medicine down the throat of every chicken i have. do not make the same mistake i did. you may think that $80 for 20 chicks is cheap, well tell me this, what is more expensive, money? or spending all of your time cleaning dried bacteria out the eye of every chicken in your flock. i will never buy unvaccinated chickens again. i have 9 baby chicks hatching out from a hen on the 17, and where in the world am i supposed to get the vaccinations for coryza. trust me, when you have a disease ridden flock, it is no longer a hobby, and it is no longer an enjoyable experience. do not waste your money, time, and life buying tylan 50 every week just HOPING you can save your flock, even though you know they will be carriers for life! no matter the cost, i will either buy from hatcheries, or nothing. a dozen fresh eggs a day is not a fair enough reward for doing what i am doing right now.

Chickadee, sorry for both you and your flock. I have never dealt with Caryza, but it sounds hard for humans and fowl. Don't let the overwhelmed feeling you are having right now discourage you. Trouble doesn't last for always.

thank you! i am feeling pretty down right now...

I hope things do get better for you quickly. And please do keep us posted. We learn alot from others out there. . . and it does keep the same thing from happening.

well, you live you learn! i'm just a little worried because i have 6 baby chicks right now, and i have 12-ish coming on april 17. i am going to have to wake up VERY early, so that i can take the eggs and put them away from the eggs before they hatch. (they are being layed on by broodies!) and one of the mamas has it already, so i CAN NOT LET THEM COME IN CONTACT!!!! but i'm REALLY worried, because the 6 chicks i have right now could get coryza, and i'm having the 12 to-be-hatching going with my 6 chicks! it was just bad timing. but it was too late to remove the eggs once my flock was infected, because it is the 11th day and at this point it would be murder! so, i am at a point where i pretty much don't know what to do!...
