Aww, so cute! Pekins are my favorite! My three were babies last spring. One of them also grew incredibly fast and I was convinced she was a jumbo. Are you supplementing extra niacin? About three weeks my biggest girl started developing splay leg and we ended up needing to supplement with liquid vitamin D and splint her legs for several weeks to reverse the condition. I think they are bred to just gain weight so quickly so they can be harvested as soon as 8 weeks old, and their bodies can't always take it. The liquid vitamin D does wonders!

my male pekin could barely walk. Niacin supplements helped a lot. He got massive very fast. Pekins are bread to be eaten sadly. I have 3 pekins and love them and can’t imagine killing them.

Some niacin helps a lot for their legs. In just a few weeks he went from not being able to take 4-5 steps without having to sit down, to being able to walk almost half way across the yard

I'm with you on those sentiments. Nice job on turning it around with Niacin. For awhile I didn't think my duck would ever walk and now she runs around with the rest of them! Thanks to help from a lot of generous and smart people on BYC!

We have Chuck and Buck. They love hiking, camping, playing in mud, swimming..... as long as the water is clear and warm.... snuggling, and going bye bye. They’re a tad bit spoiled but that’s ok.
