My Chicken Run door was made with Hedge posts for the frame, and then I used the screw in gate hinges into the posts, with a section of cattle panel for the door. I covered the cattle panel with hardware cloth and used a screen door type spring to spring load the door shut. This way I can be pushing a wheelbarrow of chicken compost out of the run--banging open the door and it will close behind me. I latch it closed with just a pivoted stick to prevent a dog/etc. from pawing it open when I'm not there.

I'm not sure what a pivoted stick is, probably would if I saw it, I'll have to look that one up espically if it will keep out a pawing dog!
