I tried that and it didnt work at all...these little buggers have a super bright light. If you are in a dark room your all set! Have fun lookin at your eggs!

I use a dewalt flashlight and a carton from capri sun juice drinks the hole in the top is perfect and the dewalt flashlight has a flex end its the regular bulb dewalt very powerfull so the light end fits in the cartonbelow the hole

I made mine with a piece of 4" pvc drain pipe I had left over from building my hopper feeders, her is how I did it,
I took the pipe and put a cap on one end, the I put a hole in the bottom about 1" up for the cord to run through, then I wired in a light socket I got from walmart for about a buck, and put a rotary light switch in the system and mounted it to the side of the pipe, then I put a floresent bulb in it, and finally, I cut a hole in another cap the shape of an egg and put it on top, I liked this idea because my wife has silkies and I can make another cap for the smaller eggs. It works grea and looks good too.

I use a shop lamp with a 65 watt halogen bulb. The inside of the cardboard is lined with foil.

a simple little led torch (flashlight) held up against the egg works a treat. use in a dark space if it makes it easier for you. also it can help to hold your fingers around the egg so you are not getting any light in your eyes..
