Double Brooder unit - How To plans

It sounds like a good plan to me with the removable board. With my planned coop I'm figuring on having the doorway basically arranged the same way so that there is no permanent lip to contend with...much easier to clean out and maneuver without it blocking the way.

Love it, girl! You really got to come back down here and help me with mine. We have decided not to use that end stall and just kick the ducks out of the upper stall and make that into a brooder room as well as a grow out pen.

What do you think about that?

Maybe have a cabinet brooder like you have on here and some others without so much plywood for older feathering chicks and then onto the floor where they can go out into the pen (maybe with a small door in the big door?). Give it some thought and let me know what you think.

Seriously, you do still visit your boyfriend, right? Where do you get all this time to build, too????

Great brooder thanks for the pictures and the the directions. Have you thought about making removable tray with coroplast (corragated plastic sign board). It is really easy to do. I made a guinea pig cage that way. That stuff is light, durable, and easy to clean. Just a thought. Thanks again for sharing.

Ha! Robin, I was thinking the same thing. We used to use coroplast to make our Guinea Pig cages...until we got up to 80 piggies and then it was too difficult but now that my DD is cutting back on her breeding and showing of the Guinea Pigs I am stealing some of her cages to use as brooders. Easy to clean but not as warm and my Marans are much too tall.

I am going to use this cabinet idea and may put our extra trays in there. Or even just make it to the size of the plastic tubs from Wally World. I could change those out in a jiffy and be cleaning the extras during use.
