Just double checking...

A pullet out of a partridge EE X Dominant white leghorn has only one copy of dominant white- and if bred to a colored roo could potentially hatch out pullets that are colored as well- correct?

Loving the potential production increase by introducing pure leghorn genes, but am not the biggest fan of solid white hens. Should have purchased hatching eggs from a brown leghorn X EE cross- but couldn't find any!

Thanks in advance for any insights- and if you've done this kind of cross and tracked generations of offspring would love to know when the 'solid white' birds phased out.

Partridge EE x white leghorn would likely result in chickens that are white with red leakage. EE/leghorn hen x non-dominant white rooster should give you 50% chicks with dominant white and 50% chicks without dominant white.

Depends a lot on what's under the white in the leghorn but you're correct it will throw colored offspring in your example.
And yes dominate white does not cover gold/red colors.

In your experience, are the generic hatchery white leghorns typically dominant white? That's the variety I am working with. Or, should I just count on them being dominant white and be pleasantly surprised if I get more color out of the hatch?

I'm a recent convert to leghorns, I previously thought they were way too flighty to have in a backyard flock but some of my colored leghorns are almost friendly- and out lay the rest of the flock by a lot.
