I have a double chick egg that has begun to hatch. I am unsure of what to do since this is also my first time natural hatch/ incubating. These chicks are a cochin bantam and black star cross. Anyway one chick pipped a hole and the is a lot of blood. So i took the egg from mom (she is very carnivorous!) Put it in a prewarmed incubator 100.5 and wrapped in a warm damp paper towel. Is there anything else i should be doing? I did remove some shell to see if the other chick was still alive. I was careful not to damage the membrane. We are hearing 2 peeps one from each side.

Woah! I am sorry I cannot help you with any advice, but do keep us updated on how everything turns out! From what I have read, it is not often that both chicks make it to hatching.

It has been about 24 hrs now and both have made it out of the shell. The clearly bigger one is doing better for obvious reason. Little guy is a fighter though, unless something drastically changes i plan on reuniting with mom and siblings tomorrow night.

Yeah, I'm not buying it. You all can believe what ya want.
Pics or videos or it didn't happen. Can't just take a picture of an egg and two chicks and say that happened. :)
