I can't wait to see what number 2 looks like. The bio mom of the chick pictured is a Sultan. The father is a bantam partridge wyandotte. The second egg is white too, so it could be the sultan again, or the silver laced polish.
I keep going out to check to see if it has made it out yet....still no new baby. I have a hard time with letting nature run it course. I wasn't actually expecting anyone to hatch until Saturday (what I thought was day 21), so it was a surprise when I found a different chicken on the eggs and when I picked up the fertile eggs to give them back to mama, one had a huge pip in it. I quickly gave the eggs to proper broody mama and a couple of hours later, I had one little peeper!
Yes that waiting drove me crazy also, I peeped and gave encouragement with each little egg I heard breaking out, lol. I was laughing at my self for being so silly and excited, never gets old.
Once the 2nd baby hatches and dries off, I need to find a safer place for them. Right now they are in a nesting box about 2 feet off the ground. And I need to get a baby waterer and chick starter ready for them. I just can't decide where to put them...
