Hi I have a couple of Appleyards that have just started laying eggs. I’ve noticed one is laying double yokers and has been from the start! It’s been about 2 weeks now, one a day, and we are still getting the double yoke. Is this delight likely to stay for her egg laying Life?

New Layers will often have little glitches in their system the first few weeks of laying, most tend to be soft deformed-looking eggs, but yours is blessing you with double yolkers. So to answer your question, it *shouldn't* last much longer.

I was consistently getting double yokes for about 4 weeks from my young pullet. After that, the frequency slowed and has now ceased.
It was so much fun cracking that egg.
I felt luckily blessed.
Enjoy!!!!
Double Yolks are cool in all........ But I am still holding out for the Golden Eggs ! :wee

Yes my other Appleyard is laying very soft egg shells even with oyster shell.
