We have an Auracana hen that routinely lays double yolk eggs. It is easy to tell them apart since they are larger than the rest.

Has anyone tried to hatch double yolk eggs? I think I will give it a try and see what happens.

Aren't they amazing? I have two Columbian Delawares that frequently lay those large double yolks! My son, an avid chef, loves them. He makes a Gnocchi that calls for one egg, but two yolks. I always give these to him as they "fill the bill" with no waste! I have never heard of "twin chicks". That is an interesting question!

I watched the Video showing the hatching of "twin chicks" with the help of the breeder.
First time experience for me.......amazing this world of chickens! And how easy is it
to fall in love with them and want to know all about them?

Where did you find the "twin" chick hatching video? I enjoy spending time with the chickens, and they always seem to make me smile no matter what kind of a day I am having. I can't imagine not having chickens now.

They definitely brighten my world.

I have gotten 3 double yolk eggs so far, my chickens have just started laying. So far I know that my Red Sex link is laying, but not sure which other ones. Possibly by Deleware, Welsummer, Rhode Island Red, or one of my Wyondottes. These were all purchased on 3/22 and 3/25 from the same store. I am getting 1-3 eggs per day, and the double yolk eggs are small, can't tell any difference in them among the other eggs. Is this just because she is a new layer, or can she continue to lay double yolks. I have read in the threads different opinions on this, so just curoius to get other people's experience with this.
