One of my girls laid a HUGE egg yesterday, I thought it might be a double yolker. I cracked it this morning and, sure enough! Two cute little yolks.

Curious... has anyone ever hatched out a double yolked egg? Wouldn't it be a mutated chick? Are double yolkers usually rare?

There is a video, either here or on you tube of a woman helping a double yolker hatch, but I think for the most part, they dont do well.

Good Luck!

I've gotten 3 double yolked eggs, but never hatched them, from lack of a rooster. I guess they would probably be twins.

We call one of our Buff Orps "Miss Jumbo" because she'll lay a jumbo egg a couple times a week, and their nearly always double-yolkers.

It's possible for one to hatch, but not really probable that you would get two chicks from it... One would prob'ly end up dying as the other out grew it.
