I just candled but the little buggers won’t sit still for nothing in there! They have broken through it seems! Should I add a hole tomorrow?
Don't add a hole unless you have to. If after a day or two and they haven't pipped but are still alive, then do a hole. Only 1 on the air cell end, not both ends like you were thinking. Vital fluid is in the narrow end.

I had a basset hound for about four hours.

A beautiful, vigorous young bitch about a year old, with one blue eye. After the first time she scratched on my door and came running into my house - no dogs allowed in that house, it was a rental - I put a leash and collar on her and walked her around the neighborhood for hours until I found her home. The woman was a single mother with five kids, one of the 'uncles' had given the kids a basset puppy without asking first, and she didn't want it. Tried to give it to me.

The second time she came into my house, I knew where to take her back to. In the meanwhile, I'd seen her almost get run over a half dozen times, since they wouldn't keep her contained at all.

The third time, I made the woman happy by telling her I'd take the dog. It went to Petsmart with me on its new leash and collar - I always kept both around, just in case of random strays, and it's come in handy more times than I can count (for everything from catching a 'vicious dog' that someone was going to shoot, to dogs loose in parking lots, to a champion buck pygmy goat wandering around in the road...). While there, she and I met an older couple who absolutely loved her, had always wanted a basset hound, and had finally bought a place with a securely fenced two-acre yard where they could have a dog. They were telling me all about how they'd been searching for a basset puppy, but there weren't any available in the area. I asked where they lived, recognized the property they described, and handed them the leash. Suffice to say the dog finally got a good home - I had visitation rights to confirm it - and the couple were in tears, they were so happy.

That's perfect!
So happy that an unwanted dog ended up in a perfect home.

I’ve never hatched ducks before. I can’t imagine having to wait that long! Jeez! I couldn’t do that.
It's horrible. I just did it...I am sure I will do it again but this next time I will actually know what to expect and sleep when I should.
