Better safe than sorry, when you're just putting a safety hole in. I certainly would not peel any shell back yet, if it were my choice! Just make sure they can breathe.

Agreed! If the other egg babies have externally pipped and one is zipping...i would use this as my measure of progression and provide a saftey hole at this point
