Doves in the rain behavior?

I've had ringneck doves for many years. Recently I built a flight pen connected to their house. It is raining heavy today and I noticed several dove in the flight pen sitting on perches with their peaks/heads pointing to the sky and eyes closed. It was an eerie sight, but cool at the same time. I've never seen any birds to this. It was like they were praying or meditating, but I'm assuming they were getting their faces washed? Has anyone witness this?

My doves do this all the time. It will be pouring rain outside, and instead of going into their shelter, they sit there and get drenched.

it's kinda like a shower. Do you give them bath water?
