Hi everyone,

Last year two doves made a nest in one of my trees. This spring, they are back. They built a nest in a new tree because their old nest was destroyed by a squirrel...or a storm, I forget. Well, they hatched one baby dove this year And guess what?!?! The Red squirrel destroyed the nest and probably ate the other eggs or made them drop! The only baby bird left can barely fly!!! I am very disappointed by this. Any suggestions before the old squirrel does it again to a new nest?

Thanks

There isn't much you can do. Trying to interfere with the nest next year will probably make the parents abandon it. The parents just need to build their nest in a new tree or in a new area to avoid the problem. It is good that you care about the poor babies though! :hit:(

Thanks, I guess your right. But I still don't like it.

I have one rule with red squirrels, and that is kill all of them that live anywhere closet to my home. Unlike gray or fox squirrels, reds will chew in and live in your home, cavities, or even your car engine housing, potentially causing tons of damage. They are also ultra aggressive towards other squirrels and other animals. Areas where humans live, especially with domesticated animals, are best without these critters!

That is a good rule! I completely agree!
