I feed all flock and scratch to my birds but I’m wondering what normal layer feed would do to a peacock (male), all my roosters, my male guineas all my birds that are too young to lay eggs

It can stunt growth and delay the onset of lay in juveniles.

In males (if fed long term) it may cause gout, kidney failure, or death.. partly depending on genetic predisposal.

This according to different studies I read and my current understanding.. the genetic component matters and there's essentially no way to determine that.. due to the investment into my birds including both time and money.. it's not worth the risk to me.. your mileage may vary.

I've heard that the extra calcium can be hard on their kidneys.
Yep, I’ve heard the same. I personally would never do it, my hens can get calcium from oyster shell, and the extra protein in the all flock feed is good for them. :)

Thank you!!! My mom was asking me why they can’t have it because she bought some and I told her it wasn’t good for them and that she should probably return it and get game bird feed for the same price so I told her that I heard it is bad for juveniles and male birds.
