Hello,
I am downsizing my flock greatly very soon (like next week)....
I am going from 60 birds to 16...
I feel as if I will be happier with a smaller flock :)

Now for the questions; (about the flock I’m keeping)
1.) Can 4 month old chickens live with a
rooster yet?
2.) What age is best to sex EEs?
3.) Who wants pictures later? :D

Thank you all

-Kayla-

1. How old is the rooster? If the rooster is older then them i would avoid it until the chicks are bigger. Roosters can be very nasty and aggressive! 2. The best age to sex any chicken in my own experience is around 4-5 months. That’s when you can start to tell who is different. 3. I would love to see some pictures :celebrate

The rooster is 8 months, so technically still a cockerel... So I will wait to add him to the young pullets. :)

Thank you, my EEs are only about 2 months so I’ll wait. (I’m keeping them regardless of gender because they are precious to me, If needed I could even build more pens)

I’ll be home in just a bit to grab some pictures!! :woot

Here’s the photos I currently have:

Oh my god they’re so pretty! I love the coloring on the second one! :clapThese birds look healthy as all hell! Keep up the good work!
Thank you, she is a blue Orpington hen (8 months old). I also like to free range during the day. From the 4 laying hens I’m keeping, I get 4 eggs per day! So the hens stay happy & healthy. :D
Thank you!
