can anyone tell me if these are girls, boys or one of each? there are just 2. they are approximately 14 weeks. i have a lot of talking but no distinct quack.

They are cute! well, usually with the mallard derived ducks your best bet at that aging is voice, drake colouring and feathering don't come till later on.

By about 6wks i could tell who was who with my calls, the duck will have a loud quack, the drake has this more subdued gargle that is almost non existent, the difference is quite clear.

I have some young buffs and they quack up a storm, that said they were bought as sexed females but you never know lol

At what age? as young ones i found they were both noisy, then the ducks voice increased and the drakes started to fade poor guy has a tough time getting a word in with his loud mate!

I am concerned about my chickens if they are boys and am thinking about getting some sexed ducks for them. I caught one of the ducks putting their head over the back of a chicken the other day. They get along well with the hens and have been raised with them. When I got them I wasn't aware of their hormone issues as teenagers. LOL. I will separate them if I have to, but don't want to wait too long as a hen might get hurt, but they carry on something terrible if I separate them from the chickens. I keep hoping to hear quacks one day soon, and maybe the duck is having a bad feather day! (still laughing over that one)

Your right in being concerned about your hens, but at just a little over 3 months I don't think you need to worry yet. but keep an eye on them for sure. when you see the[ duck and I use the word loosely at this point] try to pen down a hen then you need to separate. Sometimes picking them up will give you a better idea on what you have. Especially if they don't like to be picked up. If you do end up with a drake or drakes getting ducks is a really good thing. at least 3-5 per drake.

Drakes can be of concern with hens especially if they lack a lady interest of their own, sadly death has occurred in some circumstances. I keep my hens away from the duck flock, although i don't think my boys would touch them they have enough to juggle with many females and some young males coming up but you just don't know.
