Drake feather deformity?

Since my pekin drakes have matured, one of them has begun carrying his tail to the side. Initially it was thought to be an injury, but there seems to be no improvement after a few months. More recently, he's grown a second drake feather alongside his first...and then 3 more in a whirl around his oil gland. It doesn't really inhibit him at all, just looks funny. But I am curious what could cause this.

I think that's called wry tail.

From Storey's Guide to Raising Ducks, Second Edition:

"While a wry tail can be caused by malposition in the egg, if I know the incubation environment has been good, I assume any hatchings that hatch with this defect carry a genetic fault. However if a duck has a normal tail and suddenly develops wry tail, I have found it is usually caused by trauma to the spinal column."

Yikes...Thank you, Amiga. It did happen rather suddenly, so I'm assuming the latter would be the case...

I wonder if some time in a lukewarm bathtub for hydrotherapy might help?
