Hello All,

We have a mixed flock of 17, five chooks and twelve ducks and four are drakes. The ducks are a mix of Rouen/Pekin and are about 13 months old now. All have been very healthy from day one and seem to keep doing quite well.

I have been noticing our dominate drake big D, has started to loose his green sheen on his head unlike his other three brothers from the same hatch. I tried to search for an answer, but unable to find anything. :( Is big D loosing his dark green sheen normal?

they will molt into female colors after mating season
ok thank you, I would have never guessed this. Since our drake to hen ratio is off, I did separate the drakes from the hens because the boys were starting to get a little too aggressive with the girls.

So this is normal behavior and will happen every year after spring time ( Mating Season ) and I have nothing to worry about?
