one of my drakes has basically just stopped eating his food unless he has to.
ive already switched foods and he seemed to take to the new stuff but then he seemed to lose interest and and honestly i dont know what else i can try at this point. he still eats bugs when i offer them to him, and he eats from the palm of my hand sometimes. from his droppings it looks like he's been eating something, but i almost never see him eat his pellets. hes never touched fruits or veggies so i cant even give him those. he does still enjoy his cat food but doesnt get excited for it like he used to.
is he sick, or is he just getting to be picky?

Is he around 3, 4 months old? Then, he might have different things in his mind at this point.
I have a drake that just got his head fully colored up. He stopped eating when I bring my ducks their feed and just patrols around them as they eat. He then comes and makes a few bites and goes swimming. He gets crazy if I offer him whole corn kernels and eats them before other ducks can even get to them. He is the only one that eats from my hands and will eat as much corn as I'd give him. He does seem to forage with other ducks when they go hunting and he craps around just like in his best days when he had eaten everything he got.
I think mine stopped eating the feed because he doesn't need it. It is much stronger (18% protein) than food they find around which is plenty. He rather eats low protein grains and munch on all kinds of insects, slugs, greens and grass seeds.

... And he protecs the flock, even when they eat. He walks around them like a male gorilla. He is growing up.

what a good boy omg!!!! mine is actually a year and some, and i only have him and one other drake.
his food does have like. 20 something percent protein, but even before i switched he was going off it and the last food had 16% after southern states changed it ( and i didnt realize )
he doesnt seem to want grass anymore either and he used to go nuts for it when i hand fed it to him. he might be doing it when im not watching but i check on them an unhealthy amount and that just seems unlikely
