Drake prolapse help!

If you have some antibiotic ointment like Neosporin or tripel antibiotic you can use that it will help heal any wound and maybe help him slip it back inside better. at 12 weeks he isn't trying to breed?
Great idea! I’ll put some on him now. Ive seen him get on two of my girls both on land and in their pond. It was not graceful at all! I’m new to this so not sure when he should start breeding?

I'm sorry to hear about your drake. I've seen a veterinarian wash a prolapsed penis off well with sterile saline and very gently insert it back inside.

I recommend using a water based lubricant like KY instead of a petroleum based one like Vaseline.

If you can't insert it can you take him to an avian veterinarian?

I’m in the UK and our vets see ducks as exotic pets so it’s really difficult to find one that can help. I will keep trying to get it back in and will get some KY.

How's it going with getting it back in?
I think it was just too sore for him when I was trying, although now I’ve given him a few cold baths and put some sudocrem on it he has managed to nearly get it all back in himself and is acting a little more like himself. I’m not going to celebrate just yet but things do look a lot better.

That is encouraging! Once he gets it back in and it stays, don't get in a hurry to put him back out because if he goes after the ladies again right off, it will be out again. I've heard 3 months before putting a drake back. I guess that is something you'd just have to decide day by day.

It’s back out again like it was to begin with. So I took him to a vet I found. The vet managed to get it back in but by the time I’d got back to the car to take him home it was back out again. The vet told me to keep it lubricated and he will remove it tomorrow. Poor boy, I love him so much, he’s my only boy so he’s very special to me. He never was for breeding purposes so it didn’t bother me that it is being removed. I just hope he is ok. Just want him to be back to his normal self. I’ve got everything crossed it goes ok tomorrow and my boy can come home and recuperate.
