My Dark Campbell drake is infatuated with my Australorp hen. He mates with her many times throughout the day and chases her around a bunch. I feel badly for her because he chases her and "LOVES" her so much. What the heck is going on ? Any one else have ducks cohabitating with their chickens and seeing this sort of thing ?

My ducks were raised with my chickens, except for the Australorp and one other hen who were the sole survivors of a bobcat raid on my coop years ago.

Hmm, for me it's a Delaware chicken roo and Khaki Campbell duck hen. I thought it was because he's the omega roo in the peck order, but maybe it's just a Campbell thing?

May be a stupid question... but does he fertilize her eggs... I mean do you have little "ch-ucks" running around...

That's too bad that water fowl and chickens can't breed... when they are not that different... how did the duck and beaver make the Platypus?

I guess more animals were involved...

Egg Laying - Chicken
Venomous - Snake
Duck Billed
Beaver Tailed
Otter Footed
Mammal

Hmmm... perhaps left over parts?

You do realize that a drake breeding hens can cause serious problems, right? Roosters do not have penises- drakes do. The reproductive tract of the hen is not designed for the insertion of "objects." If they were mine, I would separate them. JMO.
