So yesterday evening my drake decided to stay in the pond with one of his mates
While his other mate was in the coop sitting on her eggs, any how, I woke up this morning with a duck quacking loudly and I knew something was up, the drake wasn’t there, not a trace. No feathers, no blood, he just wasn’t there, so i let the chickens and the broody duck out and she was acting extremely confused because usually the drake would be at the door to help her get food, water and take her down to the pond for a 10 min swim before he takes her back to the nest, but today she had to do it by herself and she seemed to struggle a lot, she was hardly out at all. I know my drake has been taken by a predator because there is absolutely no sign of him. So now we have 1 broody mamma and a depressed witness duck to it all, I was wondering If the drakes absense would effect the poor mama duck and her nest and I was also wondering if the other duck would help sit on the nest with her as it is only the two of them now, the depressed duck seems to follow the chickens and the poor girl is still calling out for the drake. I was thinking about getting another drake but I was wondering if a new drake would just stress the broody mama out. Give me your opinions on what I should do
