My dog was out with the ducks and i didnt realise. He must have caught my drake by the chest and now he has 2 puncture wounds.

He was bleeding a little but i didnt know what to do with him. To be honest i thought he would just bleed out. I sprayed some iodine on the wounds. He is now in a half barrel with food, water and straw covered with a board so he doesnt get scared by someone walking past.

He seems ok. Although i think he is still in shock.

Im worried however that he may be too sore to put his head down to eat. He is also quite frightful and goes crazy flapping when you go near him and i dont want to hurt him even more.

Could i get some advice on how to make him comfortable and what else i could do to help his recovery. Would really appreciate it. Thanks

Is it still bleeding? If so I suggest trying to put cornstarch or something with similar qualities on it to stop the bleeding ASAP. He may just need some time to calm down after the whole ordeal, so try to keep where he is being kept fairly quiet.

Yes, @Khota is right about the cornstarch. Can you post pictures of the duck? Put a heat source near the drake so he can stay warm; warmth is important if he's in shock. Are they breathing quickly and shallowly, or normally? Again, pictures would help. Good Luck!

Sorry no pictures. Thats a good idea ill get a heat lamp put up, thanks. Also hes breathing normally, hes just standing all tightened up and still. Thanks for the advice!!!
