She's a rotten bird! I just found out where she has been laying her eggs, because I caught here coming out. She been laying under the coop. I pulled out 24 eggs. I should have looked harder after I found her last cache. She likes total privacy when she lays, and moves her nest after you find the eggs. She has never showed the slightest interest in going broody, but she doesn't like anyone messing with her eggs. I have to search the yard, and most times I find where she is laying and get the eggs daily or every few days...sneaky bird!

I need to test and see if they are good, then decide if I want to try some under my newly broody silkie.

Your post make me glad that I put wire mesh around the bottom of my coop so they can't get under it! I got the idea from a mama duck (wild) who laid her eggs and hatched her brood last summer under the shed that has become the coop. I didn't want that happening when I had chickens living in there! They were SOOO cute, though. Anyway, looks like the double bonus is that my girls won't be able to lay under the coop
