are these actually drawings? they seem like some kind of photoshop software that turns your picture into a cartoonized rendering.

Yes, I draw them! I have no idea how to work photoshop. I use ibisPaint X to draw them.

right, it’s an app. you upload the photo and then trace the outline, and fill in the colors. am i correct?

I do trace most of them. It’s the easiest for me to be able to make it look accurate. For some it’s as simple as filling in the color (like for the plain white one), but for some it is individually coloring each piece, selecting different colors, and trying to make it actually look like the chicken that was posted. Sometimes I have to draw the feet myself or make chickens look more fluffy, or so on. Either way, I like doing it.

Barring and Crele are definitely harder to work with. Good luck!

I would love to have a Crele bird. I think they have sexlinked barring, maybe MysteryChicken will know for sure.

Of course. Either way, it’s for my own enjoyment. If people don’t like how I draw them, that’s perfectly fine.
