Dreaming of building NEW farm style chicken coop!

Check out the link below. The book has a lot of info on the Woods style open air coop. I built one myself, and it has really worked out for me. A 10X16' Woods will hold 40 birds comfortably. You could widen it out, for more if you wanted. It is a very well lit coop inside , with the upper windows.

Nice! Is the red coop in your main picture the one you built from the information in that book?

Yes it is. I bought the book from Amazon, a couple of years before I seen that link. Below is a summer pic, with all the windows open.

Thanks, I had one bird that went over the fence (Actually electrified poultry net) the first day, after I put the fence up. I clipped one of her wings, and haven't had any go over since, and that will be a year this Mar.

That's great! Does the electric do well to keep out predators? I have never seen electric poultry fencing, what a clever idea! I have electric wire around my horse fencing to keep her from leaning and rubbing against the fence.
