Dreaming of chickens in Michigan

Hello all! I've dreamed of owning chickens for a long time. I wasn't able to have them prior to this because of city ordinances but we've moved and now I can finally get a few. My husband was sweet enough to build me a small coop and we're planning on getting the chicks soon. The only problem I'm really having is whittling down my wish list. I only want 3 or for hens right now.

Congrats on being in a place where you can have a flock now! Whittling down a wish list seems to be an impossibility (at least for me), but you can get 3 different breeds for a mixed flock.

It sounds as though you’re battling chicken math already I would strongly recommend building a bigger coop than you need because chickens are addictive and you will almost certainly want to expand your flock at some point (soon). Best of luck with your chicken adventures
