Dreaming of Spring Gardening in the Middle of a Wisconsin winter part 2

Lisa, you are not alone. I keep my landline because I live alone in the country and don't trust that my cell phone will always be charged, not lost, work properly, etc.

Also, I prefer to give out my landline number for any rewards programs -- like Bomgaars -- so I don't get inundated with texts from companies.

My cell is several years old, cost less than $200 and does what I really want a phone to do -- take and make calls -- along with the bonus ability to take photos and do texting. Plus, it's on a $30 a month plan, which is cheaper than my landline.

we have not had cell phone service for ten days.
T Mobile says it is Spectrum's problem, Spectrum
says it is T Mobil's.
Yesterday Anniei's brother , who retired from
GTE and then again from Frontier got on the phone.
He worked with somebody from T Mobile for over
two hours. They tried everything you can think of to get our
cells working. Finally found out that the tower that is just
five miles from us is down. so the next tower is ten miles
away. hence no signal. they are going to send a booster
device to Dave and he will bring it out here and install it.
fingers crossed.
I am at the point where I don't care if I even have a cell.
on a good note. we are enjoying our new/old Nissan.
I made my third attempt to make apple fritters.
tested them on my brother and his wife. They said the
fritters were very good. I had only one apple.
next time I will use at least two.
am thinking of trying a raised dough for a
batch instead of the baking powder..
I diced up veggies and cabbage and ham
and Annie made boiled dinner. she adds
saurkraut to it to give it a little zing.. In my
bowl I add a few shakes of cayenne pepper.
not very nice weather for a couple of upcoming
days. going to sit tight. no need to go out.

I got up at 3AM. about 10AM I fell asleep watching TV
woke up at noon.
Annie and her sister are leaving now. going to the
eye surgeon for post cateract check up for Susie.
her surgery was yesterday.
at about 11 AM yesterday there was a nice buck
standing under the apple tree outside the kitchen
window. another deer was farther away in the
freshly cut corn field.

I hope you Wisconsin peeps are having a lovely day! Speaking of old cars, yesterday we did surgery on an overgrown camellia. We put the branches in our 91 Chevy S-10 and took them down the road to a neighbor who has goats. My grandkids were over for the day and they wanted to ride in the truck with hand crank windows! :gig They think that is the coolest thing ever!

Husband is doing what we hope is the last lawn mowing, but probably isn't. We are putting all the clippings and leaves on my garden boxes and the rest go into the poultry runs.

@Sequel that sounds like a nice afternoon. I miss roll up windows on vehicles. The electric window is always so hard to get right where you want it, and the vehicle has to be running in most cases to raise or lower them. Good old elbow grease is always available. Also miss those little triangle windows cars used to have.
