Dreaming of Spring Gardening in the Middle of a Wisconsin winter part 2

Pics
just you and me, eh? that's OK.
it is just past one PM and still at freezing temps. really doesn't make me feel like going outside.
I hope the garlic didn't freeze too bad.
It is up about three inches. I didn't get it mulched. was too lazy when we had the warm days. need a kick myself emoge.

I guess no one else wants to admit they garden in Wisconsin. :) Maybe people are afraid of me or you?

It is pretty cold out today. Supposed to remain cooler too. Gonna be a shorter growing season if it keeps up. Grass is greening up now at least. Good thing we had extra hay for the goats and donkeys.

finally , 47F and sunny. No heavy coat required. I went down and mowed up a pile of dried grass and spread it over the garlic bed. I don't expect many weeds. I am not planning on doing anything more until I pull the garlic.
I am thinking of using the bed to start root stock. elderberries, apples and plums. might plant some peas or lettuce. we will see.
If I had a donkey I would harness it and cultivate my corn. lol

You wouldn't get far using my donkeys. They are old and lazy and don't like to move much. They are more like beasts of leisure instead of burden.

Today was much nicer out. Still not much to do in the garden. Trying to keep the cats from using my pots and raised planters as a toilet. Don't need any surprises when digging in them.

I could easily get used to this kind of weather.
tomorrow I think I will drain the old gas out of the rototiller and put some of this nice new expensive gas in.
I don't ever recall seeing a donkey doing any work, other than in a movie. A friend of mine had some mules. They are good for farm work.
good for skidding logs, too.
a neighbor woman had a collection of donkeys. I think she got rid of them now. she had about thirty in all sizes..

I've had as many as 7 donkeys at once. These will be my last as I can't tend to them easily anymore. These two are around 25 years old now. I originally adopted the mom donkey as a wild burro. That was kinda a joke. They were easy to tame by just offering grain and pets. They are like dogs stuck in a equine body.

Be careful Jim. :)

Looks like we expected to slowly warm up. Maybe getting into the 60's eventually. Sure would be nice not to have to bundle up.

I garden in WI! Our rhubarb is up too but no asparagus. I planted some strawberries, blueberries, raspberries and gooseberries over the last couple weeks. I am hoping the freezing night temps are behind us, 10 day forecast doesn't show any BUT we all know how that works.

You must be farther south, or way braver than me. :) Can't plant much yet here. Still sloppy, and cold. I'm so jealous.
