Dreaming of Spring Gardening in the Middle of a Wisconsin winter part 2

Last year I sprouted spinach from seed without issue in summer (it's supposed to like cold weather, go figure) and since I ate it quick bolting wasn't a huge issue. But for spring, I got just 1 - and it grew massive, like 2' tall lol. Weirdest spinach plant I've ever seen but even the giant leaves were tender so I was able to harvest off that plant for several weeks.

I’ve never managed to get one to grow ever.

Of course last year I think I accidentally drowned them but still.

And I guess my peppers are officially dead now if they weren’t before.

It’s okay! I think they were already dead before from all the rain and few cold nights we’ve had (keep forgetting to bring them in) but still.

I planted a short row of onions in the greenhouse today. Tomorrow will be lettuce and some basil. As soon as I get to the local greenhouse I will buy broccoli and cauliflowers to put out there. I put my started seeds out there during the day and bring them in at night because it still gets a bit cold here. Supposed to get down to 30 tonight and 26 a couple of nights from now. Grandson and I planted two baby tomatoes out there and a celery the other day. I put cut out milk jugs around them. We'll see if they are OK in the morning or not. If not, I have 6 more little tomatoes to plant. (My mom got a 9-pack, but only wanted one of them so she gave us the rest.)

I use Kozy Kotes to plant my tomatoes out earlier. Of course the soil needs to warm up a bit more for tomatoes here. That's where the greenhouse comes in handy.

@rosemarythyme the Shishito are doing the best out of all the peppers!!! actually the only ones up except one sweet chocolate trying very hard to come up haha

I did jump the gun and put out one romaine lettuce plant that I had started in the house after I cut the stump off a head of it, and some short rows of 4-year old pea seeds. The peas probably won’t grow, but Grandson wanted to plant something. It’s gotten down into the 20s the past few nights, so the lettuce didn’t make it. I have some onion seeds I’m tempted to put out there.

I started 3 dozen tomatoes, a dozen peppers, some basil and dill the other day. We’re gardening for two families and plan on canning and freezing this fall.

Wondering how progress on this structure is turning out. Just adorable!

I got the garden tilled. To cold this weekend to do much else.
I might spread compost on the garden and only till it into the soil for the rows that are going to be planted. The areas for the walkways will not be tilled in. I don't think we will get the tiller back onto the LS tractor this spring, and tilling that entire garden with the little tiller is a lot of work.
