Question for you all : last year my garden go out of control and I have a mess of tall weeds standing out there. Would it be OK if I just pushed it all into the center of the garden and burned it right there as a pile?

I have some wood pellets that i can't run through the pellet stove for heating the house, but i think they would be a good base for burning the weeds

Any opinions on this plan

sounds like pigweed ? I think it would burn with another fuel like you mentioned.
I still have the same name. I tried changing it, but had no luck. why mess with it as long as it still works, eh?

like the rest of you, i am waiting for spring to really come.
we got rid of all of our birds and animals. only wild rabbits, deer and an occasional stray cat.
i will write more when i get a response from this post.

So glad you are back. This past winter seemed particularly long even though it wasn't.

good morning, two weeks before easter. that is my official start of spring.
Had no garden last year, just a few tomato plants. This year I am going to limit them to just six plants.
We want to plant corn this year. But that is dependant on getting my tractor back from the fixit shop in time to plow. I think I blew a head gasket. Had water in the oil.
I had nephew Dan help me a lot last summer. We made an arbor for the grapes. I found a good place to buy grape vines in Clintonville, Wisc. individual gal pots, full of roots. $12.oo ea. I bought six. four of them I planted in a new row. If they show signs of life this spring, we will build another arbor.
we planted two pear, three apple and two cherry trees.
a row of asparagus, a large bed of rhubarb and garlic.
Now if the Asian beetles don't eat everything, we shouldn't have to plant any more.
I had two hips replaced and my heart pacemaker battery went low, so I had that replaced in Jan. I should be good to go for another ten years. lol
that"s about it to date.

Those are great plans Jim. We are gonna try the corn plot again. Last year the weeds overtook everything. I think tilling multiple times might help. We will see.

Some of our plans are replacing some rotted landscape timbers with rock edging, and husband wants to plant another animal food plot. He's looking for a cheap corn planter, but he's probably dreaming.

I have just 6 tomato plants started. That's enough for us. Some for fresh eating, and some to freeze for a pot or two of chili.

We thoroughly enjoyed eating my frozen quart bags of green beans and carrots I froze last year, so I plan to grow more if those again.

I'm also eager to see what survived the winter, especially since we lacked a good snow cover yet again.

I looked on craigslist for 2 row corn planters. the cheapest one is in Green Bay. $550.oo
I have an old horse drawn 2 row planter. I haven't used it for a few years. It takes two people to run it. Kind of tempermental.
I watched the grammies and the oscars for my first time ever. I can't wait until next year so I can go back to not watching them again.
My verizon service went out this morning. So grandson set me up with something else. It works, but there are pop up ads constantly.
irritating, but better than nothing.

The robin has been snowed upon three times and then some. Come on spring.
GS fixed the computer. So for now all is good, until I mess it up again. lol
I have a turkey in the freezer that I am going to roast for Easter. I am going to cut it into manageable pieces before putting it into the Nesco.
I do not enjoy hacking on a whole hot bird at the dinner table.
I don't know how many people will be here. anywhere from two to ten.

No real plans here for Easter. My husband roasts birds or hams than chops it up and freezes it. Too much meat to get eaten in a few days when it's just him eating it.

I had forgotten about the robin saying. Next will be 3 witches after the frogs croak. I haven't heard them yet, sounds like next week is gonna be warmer. Once the grass starts to grow the mud will start to dry up.

I'm itching to start some lettuce, and radish, but have to wait until the freezing is done.
