I just brought home a compound sliding miter saw from my sons place. I'm looking forward to putting it to use after everything dries out.
Personally I think that the key to good food/soup is PEPPER
I'm looking forward to growing lots of good stuff, mostly for the me, Cooper and the chickens this year.
Cooper ate the banana peppers off of the plant last year.
I'll tell you that I buy plants and plant them in large tubs. This year I'll add more tubs.
Last year I planted tomatoes, cherry tomatoes, banana peppers and kohlrabi
The only one that will eat my kohlrabi will be ME
I also planted zucchini on the hillside and of course had too many. This year I have CHICKENS.
So they will eat most, well at least a lot of what I will plant.

Sunday I checked the table saw to see what tools I will
need to get the old roll around base off.
As it turns out, I do not have to take the base
off. all I have to do is remove those tiny two inch
wheels and screw on the new three inch wheels.
I will gain only one inch in height. I can live
with a 38 inch tall table saw..
Annie was sweeping and raising a ton of dust.
I was coughing too much so I came back into the
house.. It was colder in the shop than it was outside.
If I go out again, I will light a fire..
I made biscuits (English muffins) and gravy.
the gravy was not perfect, but I am getting closer
to what I am looking for.

How soon do you think you will be able to create the perfect gravy, Jim? And, hurray on not having to take the base off.

@EagleEyes, congratulations on bringing home a compound miter saw. I used to be afraid of the one I inherited, but I really enjoy using it now.

Since it is 50 degrees one day and snow falls two days later, I am not sure if I will ever get to plant veggies this year. Last year was the first time I grew kohlrabi, but it's been a favorite of mine since I was a little kid with a dad who was clearly a better veg farmer than I am! Last year, even my zucchini didn't grow -- who has EVER been able to say that?

My only semi-reasonable excuse is that northern Iowa was in a serious drought. It looks like I'll need a new excuse this year, based on the snow and rain we've been receiving.

I don't know, for the time being I will have to
be satisfied with just adequate gravy..
winter has raised it's ugly head again.. too cold
to work in the shop. I don't want to mess around
lighting a fire.. it takes a few hours to warm the
room up..
we are babysitting quite a bit this week.
puts a new light on, it takes a village to raise a kid.. lol
How can one two month old wear out four adults ?

My gravy isn't up to par, but I made another
helluva batch of chili..
I made buttermilk pancakes. they were good, but
I like my
own recipe better.. I just use milk and
a tablespoon of vinegar..

after being here a week, the kids took the baby
and went back up nort..
back to just me n Annie.. it is quiet,
like a morgue here tonight.
don't know when we will see them next.
Kalib will be here next Thursday for a week.
all I got done today was to get to Fleet and
buy sixteen lag screws to mount the four casters
to the table saw.
Went to the Eagle's Nest for potato pancakes.

I am glad to see the snow finally receding. The daylilies along the barn are about 2" tall. We got over 8" of snow last weekend- we were forecast to get a dusting - "a few flakes in the air" was how the weatherman said it. It snowed hard most of the day. Luckily it melted as it was snowing or we would have had more.

2AM , can't get to sleep.
It is snowing here. the next couple of days
are going to be miserable weatherwise.
but 50 F weather is promised afterwards.
I am hungry for ribs and kraut.
