Dreaming of Spring Gardening in the Middle of a Wisconsin winter part 2

Maybe you're back to sleep already? My dogs insist on getting me up too early.

No snow here. In fact, the predicted high is 70 degrees -- the first time so far this year. But, that comes with the threat of severe weather.

I'm not a ribs person, but I LOVE kraut. I had a plateful of Aldi's German style day before yesterday.

Hope you get some rest, Jim. I long ago surrendered to my dogs' sleep patterns. We all get up too early; we all take naps midday.

Yeppers, I was back to bed when you wrote.
A little rum on the rocks helped me get tired .
We are just at the south edge of the winter
storm warning.. I don't know what kind of
precipitation we will get.. we had snow overnight.
only about an inch.
If we don't get more than 4" of new snow, I am
not going to plow. If it rains, then there will be
no decision to make..

I used to drink rum with Coke and occasionally added it to some fruit juice. I don't think I could do rum on the rocks. And, I don't drink Coke -- or any pop -- anymore.

It's warm and balmy right now, and we are under tornado watch until 8 p.m. But it sounds like it's more likely hitting to the south and east.

Menards has moved its fruit trees outdoors, and it turns out, they are on sale this week. I bought three to replace the ones the bunnies girdled over the winter. I got a Yellow Delicious, Granny Smith and Macintosh. The first two are about 7 foot tall, and the Macintosh is about 4 foot.

A guy scoffed that I wouldn't be able to get them into my Ford Focus. I laughed last. It's not the first time I've hauled big trees in a little car. Roll down the back windows, tip the pots and lift them through the window into the back seat. Perfect!

Hope you don't get any more snow. Winter needs to pack her bags; she is overstaying her welcome.

Wet, cold and dreary here. Keeping my eyes on next weeks temperatures. Wish they were in the 70's but nearly 50 will be nice too. Getting a bit of flooding in our old basement. Nothing too bad. Means the frost is getting out of the ground. I'm starting to see some heaving of ground as well. Gotta get through mud season to get to gardening season.

Barb, I hope your sister wasn't in on any of that
tornado business. Doesn't she live is S. Iowa ?
We had water seep in along the east wall for the
first time in 54 years..
It rained hard for a loooong time. then it got cold
and turned to snow.
the trees are hanging low. I checked the ground.
there is a layer of rough frozen snow/ice with a couple
of inches of soft snow on top. I am not going to plow.
it is supposed to melt in a couple of days..

My crazy little terrier decided to jump up at 1:30, dash madly downstairs and bark. Thinking it could be something after my poultry and/or ruminants, I followed as fast as I could and ran outdoors in nightgown and slippers to find -- Nothing.

Surprisingly, I was able to go back to sleep and Overslept until almost 5 a.m.!

The rum idea, I'm familiar with, but honey? Which did you do?
