Dreaming of Spring Gardening in the Middle of a Wisconsin winter part 2

I like asparagus either cooked or raw. same with peas..
what usually happens when things are going good ?
a pipe in the laundry room decides to leak. I think a
shark fitting worked itself loose. I hope so. that would
be a very easy fix..
So in the mean time, the pump is turned off. The water
pressure is zero. I will be checking it out today..
So, there goes my plan to grade the driveway..
Annie wants to extend the parking area a little.
On Monday or Tuesday we have a load of granite coming.
Ollie will get a good workout..
we went for fff last night. bluegill. had enough for leftovers.
fish on rye bread for lunch today..

Isn't it true that something always has to interrupt your plans when things seem to be going well? I had a professional come out last summer to power wash and stain my deck. One big thing off my to-do list. Except, winter took its toll. I showed a photo of the peeling stain to the person at Sherwin-Williams; the same thing happened to her deck that she did last summer. One thing back on my to-do list -- just the flat part though. Thank goodness I won't have to re-do the 100+spindles.

Good luck with the driveway and parking projects!

Rain finally quit, but it's too soggy to do much outdoors. I wanted to get my green beans planted . At least, it's easier to pull all the rogue morning glory vines out of the soft dirt in the root cellar flower bed. I like wild morning glories, but NOT where these decided to grow.

Never give up.. Joe is coming to fix the leaky pipe.
So I got to go out and grade the driveway for about
an hour.. It went really well. I even did the parking
area.
Meanwhile Annie cleaned the deck. We sat out there
for about an hour and listened to the wrens. After
a while, they can get on your nerves, . lolol They
just never shut up ..
DD Brenda called. She is taking us out for
Mother's day breakfast tomorrow..
Bummer about your peeling deck, Barb.
was it sprayed on ? that might be why..

Congrats on the driveway and parking area!

For several years, a wren has claimed a bird house I hang in one of the walnut trees that's close to the deck. This year, some sparrows -- who are really too big for the opening -- decided they want to check out the house. That little girl gets so wound up, she lectures them with her tail a flitting up and down the whole time. She's totally fierce. And, yes, she talks nonstop.

I don't let anybody spray any paint or stain out here. It's all brushed on; I learned that lesson the expensive way at my old house. In all fairness to Tom, who stained the deck, I have paint peeling off two of my coops, too. Winter was brutal here.

Happy Mother's Day to Annie, and happy breakfast to you both!

Love broccoli soup. Adding cheese puts it into heavenly. Enjoy your soup Jim.

Bought a few pepper plants that I need to plant. Need to plant some green beans too. Lawn is still squishy. Hopefully it dries out this week. Lawn is getting long.

Soup is one of my favorite things to make and to eat! How was yours, Jim?

Hope you can get those peppers planted soon, Lisa. I was happy to see that whatever had chewed a few leaves off my sweet pepper plant turned its attention elsewhere. But I was THRILLED to see that the radishes I planted last week are coming up. And, all of my potato hills are looking good

I did prep work yesterday -- hand trimming, weed eater, battery-operated mower -- so I can run the riding mower today. Not everyone was pleased. A robin has decided to nest on the electrical box on the farm light pole. Every time I got remotely close, she began a long and loud lecture.

And, all my outdoor work disturbed a rooster pheasant. Yesterday, he would pop out of the tall grass in the north pasture, see me and then disappear into it, like the ball players in "Field of Dreams."

Sounds like you are stuck in some weird Disney movie Barb. Hope all those critters leave you alone. Just don't start singing to them.

Picking up sticks again today. Need to finish mowing the lawn but can't until we get the sticks picked up. It's the only downside to having white willows for trees.
