Dreaming of Spring Gardening in the Middle of a Wisconsin winter part 2

Happy anniversary Jim and Annie.

Happy Anniversary Love GIF

we never got our chimichangas.
bro Dave picked us up and drove to the town hall
Said he had to drop off his bowling fees.
He went in and came out with a life long friend of mine.
He said that they had a half barrel of beer and only nine
people. so, come in and have a beer. OK, that sounded good.
We went in and there were about 1oo people in there.
At first I thought, what a bunch of whimps, can't even finish
off a half barrel. then I recognized my daughter. and my sisters,
and grand kids and their kids.
Surprise !!! Our kids set us up. Neither of us had a clue.
we saw friends and relatives that we hadn't seen for years.
Our babysitter flew in from California.
I asked Annie, what can we look forward to now ?
maybe our 75th ?

That is awesome!!!

Just checking in. I was going to look at the
window that needed fixing. but Annie called someone to
look at it already. See? if you put it off long enough it
will be taken care of..
I loaded up two trailerfuls of granite for DD Barby.
She has a dish area where she parks in the alley .
I don't know how much more she will need. Can't get
a straight answer out of her.

Not much going on here. Garden is done I just haven't removed the rest of the plants yet. I have a few beets to roast, and see if any of the carrots did anything. I keep waiting on some of that rain that never happens. The soil is like concrete. Hard to get the root vegetables out. Might have to just do it one day.

If you can get to the root crops with a hose, wet them down
good a couple of hours before you dig them,
I just got finished grading the granite parking area.
That is where I dig the granite for DD Barby.
We were in town for a few things, went for red hook shrimp
at my favorite restaurant.. I eat the potatoes and salad
and bring most of the shrimps home. I will get
two more helpings of shrimp out of it..
went to see my brother. got held up by a
train across the road for about a half an hour.
got to bro's house and he wasn't home..

My sister was here for most of the week, and we were busy enough that I didn't spend much time on the computer. Jim, loved the story of your "missed" chimichangas!

Lisa, my garden only has a couple of cherry tomato plants that are still producing. This year, nothing ate my carrots because I planted them in pots on the deck. But, aside from some little carrot tops, I still had nothing to show for my efforts.

Sister's tomatoes from southern Iowa are still going strong. She brought up containers of cherry tomatoes and about a dozen BIG tomatoes. Much as I like a homegrown tomato, I may have to freeze the last few.

Got almost half an inch of really light, all-day rain yesterday. More rain is predicted for today, so I might head into town this morning. Bomgaars is giving a 12-percent rebate today.

We finally got some rain overnight. Not sure how much as I never replaced my broken rain gauge. Filled up my rain barrel by the barn, but no puddles, so I'm guessing around 1/2 inch give or take. Hopefully enough to loosen the carrot bed up. Not sure if I will get anything of size. The one remaining rabbit will be happy with the harvest at least.
