Dreaming of Spring Gardening in the Middle of a Wisconsin winter part 2

Glad everything went all right Barb. I guess I shouldn't have counted my brothers out. Yesterday my oldest called to see how I was doing, and the youngest sent me a mystery gift. It was a Christmas screaming goat which made me laugh. The envelope had a return address from a vacant lot, but it was in his area so I figured him out. I guess someone was listening to my posts. So I guess I'm not as alone as I had been feeling that day.
Aww that’s wonderful!

Hope you SAFELY heat up that carburetor!

Our vet visit went surprisingly well! Normally, Dinah is restrained in the back seat while George, who is blind and BIG, ends up in the front. Carolyn tries to keep him on the floor, but he insists on piling on top of her in the seat. Getting him into the car always requires two people to lift the straight-legged, dead-weight boy into the vehicle.

Yesterday, Dinah hopped into the backseat -- and George, all on his own, climbed in behind her! He laid down on the seat and spent the entire trip quietly and calmly. He was a little hesitant to step down out of the car when we got there, but he did it on his own. Same basic scenario for the return trip. We've never had such a drama-free trip to the vet!

George, who was labeled "a handsome hunk" by the rescue group that had him -- has always had a weight issue. Thanks to switching out his dog treats for baby carrots, he has lost a total of 10 pounds.

Carolyn and I got all the tarps hung on the remaining coops yesterday and opened our presents last night. Lisa, I gave her the hug from you and she offered "hugs right back."

She's heading home this morning, but it's been a great few days.
Awesome!!

update on Olllie. I kept the heater on for an hour. I got a few pops out of him.
then I checked something that I thought might be a problem.. sure enough. there was water in the oil bath air filter. did I say water in the oil ? there was nothing BUT water. I left the filter open and tried starting him again. I got a whole series of loud bangs.. it almost started , once.. I will try again tomorrow. maybe it will dry out by then., if not I will pull the spark plugs out. I'm thinking I will have to..
we went for fish fry . our regular place was closed for Christmas.
So we drove a couple miles more to the truck stop..
I dropped the togo box getting into the car. dumped over half of the shrimp onto the ground..

Glad to hear that you are making progress with Ollie. Sorry about your spilled shrimp -- although for me, losing fried shrimp wouldn't be at all tragic. That meal combines two things I don't care for -- deep fried anything and shrimp.

Lisa, I think a Christmas screaming goat is a great gift! Much better than the real thing. I adore goats, but sometimes I wish my older girl, who yells a LOT, would get laryngitis. She can't be hungry; she's as wide as she is tall.

Carolyn and I opened all our Christmas gifts while she was here this week. I almost immediately began trying to find places to put mine away, in the most logical places. I spent a fair amount of time yesterday trying to remember where I "safely" put one of them.
Why would I put a 23andMe ancestry kit in the library? Don't know. But I found it on top of a stack of books.

Carolyn has done the Ancestry DNA kit; we're curious to see if 23andMe results are the same. There's no one from the generation before us left to ask, but they likely wouldn't have known much before their own parents anyway.

Barb, you sent your post at about the time I was waking up.
Annie is always filing something. then later she forgets what she filed it under.. but eventually she finds it..
the directions I got was to put light oil into the cylinders.. OK,,,,what is considered
"light oil" and how much do I put in ?
I will use my best judgement, I guess.
I should get an early start. It is 37F at 6AM already..
somebody once gave my brother a swearing santa .
