It's New Dog Day for Lisa! Hurray!! You'll have to tell us all about how everything goes and how sweet the pup is.
Jim, congrats on winning the battle, getting Ollie to work with the box blade and having time to do so. Even when you enjoy company, it's frustrating to have folks show up when you have things planned. Jim and I had a friend (who passed away earlier this year) who frequently dropped by unannounced but usually at the most inconvenient times. Once, we had omelets for lunch because it was the only thing I could quickly whip up and have enough for three people instead of two.
I am woefully behind on so many things (weeding, mowing, trimming around fences and flower beds, cleaning) that it's hard to choose what to do first. Cold weather is fast approaching, and then I'll regret not getting things done when I could have.
My Jim thought it was funny that my cousin's laundry list of tasks was handed off to his "hired man." I sure wish I could find one of those.
Seed Savers keeps emailing me about fall gardens (What? I was barely able to take care of the summer one!) so I'm toying with planting more lettuce, maybe some spinach. I took out the bolted lettuce this week, and many of the tomato vines are dying off. A couple still have green tomatoes, but there's plenty of garden space for something. I'm sure the grasshoppers will enjoy destroying whatever I plant.
