dried leaves for litter

Quote:
Not to mention the parasites that wet leaves breed. Fleas, Mites, Lice, Ticks, Mosquitoes... you name it!

I've been using nothing but leaves for a solid year now and haven't had any of those problems.

That's great to know since we live in similar regions (I'm from Massachusetts.) How do you store them so they stay dry?

Thanks!!

My neighbors have been painstakingly trained to dump their leaves in a certain spot on our property. Maybe it's because the pile is kind of under trees, or maybe it's because leaves have a natural "shingle effect", but they don't seem to get too wet, or they dry out quickly if they do. Sometimes there are worms and stuff in the bottom layer, but the chickens sure don't complain about that.
