drivers ed instructor on cell phone while students are driving

It isn't only that he's on the phone while he's supposed to be helping students...it's that he's on the phone while he's working too! Must be nice! Maybe I'll become a driver's ed teacher so I can get paid to chat!

EXACTLY what I was going to say, word for word.

And of course you should be outraged! It's a double whammy, because not only is he NOT paying attention to the student driver, but he's also setting a bad example that cell phone and cars go well together. BAD.

Yikes - my daughter just started drivers ed Monday and gets to drive for the first time on Thursday. I am going to give her a heads up. This is the last summer/year that they are offering drivers ed through the school district around here. They seem to be having problems getting qualified instructors. We are a city of 250,000. I think they all work for those private driving schools or something.

One of my friends daughters took drivers ed 2 years ago and failed (she is a nervous nelly and won't pull out into traffic) but on the last day he made her take the car to get the oil changed because "she wasn't gonna pass anyway so might as well get something constructive done."

ETA: Told my hubby and daughter about this - he told her that if her instructor gets to chattin' on the phone to just pull over and wait patiently
