Driveway alarm needed

[7L Farm]

I'm looking for an alarm of some type to let me know when someone enters my gate at my farm. I sell stuff here at 7L but would like to know when someone is entering onto my property. My gate is in my avatar. The gate is about 300 yards from my house. Does anyone use these types of devices & what is the best one to get. Thanks 7L.

I had one once, and it worked ok, BUT, weeds and stuff will set it off as well, so be
careful how you position it.

I have some friends that have a device that sounds off in the house like a doorbell when someone starts down the driveway, works great, not sure where they got it.

Thats a great link! Thanks for posting it. We've used a gate alarm here at our farm for about five years now. It's just a model that we found at radio shack and it has worked all right but isn't 100% reliable when it rains. We are only about 400-500 feet from our front gate and we do have line of sight access to it.

We are currently adding some additional security measures and have found that some of the technology at that distance requires a hard wire. Although we are having a new electronic gate installed, I still want a gate alarm to let me know when someone just pulls up to the gate and then another one to sound when someone passes the second gate which is closer to the house.

The one we have now has come in handy to alert me to stray dogs coming up the drive as well as the neighbor's cows and bull.
