Lola Chick
In the Brooder
I have one chicken that got herself trapped between our house and a structure built to hold our woodpile. I called for her and looked for her for days and assumed she must have been taken by an owl (since the crows always notify me of a hawk or eagle in our yard). I found her soft chicken voice after 4 1/2 days of being trapped behind the woodpile! I removed all the logs and she surprisingly looked okay considering! I took her to food and she ate A LOT and gave her warm electrolyte water and lots of meal worms and some black bean soup. I was shocked she was alive, we found her, and she seemed to be eating very well after her experience. She only seemed a bit wobbly from being trapped in the same position without moving. She’s molting a bit but not severely hard. I found her 2 days ago, and this morning on day 3 one of her wings seems to be drooping. Do you think this has to do with lethargy or could it be dislocated? I’m assuming she struggling to get out of being trapped and may have injured herself. It is the wing side that was against our concrete foundation.
Any thoughts on if I should take her to the vet for dislocation? Or should I just watch her and care for her? She is doing well surprisingly because she could have easily died
