Droopy sick chicken

I noticed today that one of my Amerucana hens was lethargic & Droopy. Her tail feathers are not fluffy but rather flat. Her crop is soft. When we put her in a warm bath she just floats & really makes no attempt to move. HELP!

Is it hot where you live? How long has she been like this? She could be weak from dehydration. Get some water and add electrolytes and vitamins, such as SaveAChick, and give it to her by dipping her beak or giving it with a dropper. How old is she? Can you check inside her vent with one finger an inch or so, for a stuck egg? If you can get her to drink some, then offer some chopped up egg or some tuna. Have you seen any of her droppings? Coccidiosis could make her weak. Symptoms are lethargy, hunched posture or extreme weakness, not eating, and runny droppings with mucus or blood. Corid is good for treatment. I hope you can get her drinking soon, and Pedialyte or Gatorade will work temporarily.

This is her poop! We put her beak in water & she wants nothing to do with it. We are keeping her separated for the night. It hasn't been too terribly hot here so I don't think our is dehydration. I'm at a loss! She is one of three for my son's fair project We have 12 others & none of them are showing any similar symptoms.

If you Google "chicken poop pictures" click on TheChickenChicken for some good pictures to look at. Your hen could have egg yolk peritonitis, an intestinal infection, coccidiosis, or even cancer. I would try to give her electrolytes with a dropper or consider tube feeding her temporarily. There are many good threads on how ro tube feed if you search at the top of this page. I would take a sample of her droppings in to your local vet for a fecal test, or take the chicken too if they will see her.
