We recently rehomed 2 bantam roosters from our flock - can’t have Roos in my neighborhood, unfortunately.
Ever since the roosters have gone our egg count has gone down from about 6-8 eggs a day to 2-4 per day. Also, our hens seem to be keeping closer to the enclosed coop area rather than enjoying the full run. Coincidentally the weather has also been erratic moving into fall.
Curious if removing the roosters would cause stress on our hens. I assumed we’d be providing relief by taking out the roosters but it seems the ladies miss them.
Anyone have any insight?
Thanks!

My egg production has dropped like a rock...my girls are starting to look like they party night after night, kind of bedraggled, and their old feathers are sticking out at weird angles.

Very glad I put up a couple of gallon jars of water glassed eggs. My dh loves to tease me, when chicken feed and eggs are on the go to town list!

Sounds like both flocks production has dropped due to molting and/or reduced light due to seasonal changes.
