Drop in Humidity???? ~~GRAPHIC PICS~~ Be Warned

Would a drop in Humidity cause this? I didn't know the chick had pipped the egg I guess the others had rolled it around. I decided to check on one chick that wasn't making and process and that's when I found the one egg stuck to the rubber mat. It was sticky like it had syrup on it. I've never had it happen before. All the other chicks popped out fine except the last two. The other one was sticky too and the other egg where it had pipped the hole was covered in this stuff. I finished opening the egg and it was perfect looking and looked to be a blue color. Here is a picture of the egg can anyone tell me for sure if it was a drop in humidity? I haven't opened the bator since Friday. I wish I had checked on it earlier but didn't. I keep the water level full and hygrometers read 72% I have one more egg and I candled it but it doesn't show any chick in the air sack so it might have already died. Will check again tomorrow.

I had a chick like that once. Only one chick and all 18 other eggs were fine. Only difference was the shell was a bit thicker I think so it didn't lose enough liquid. My guess is that humidity was a bit high for the thickness of the shell the little guy was in. He looked almost ready to go too!

I was able to save mine by giving it a full bath three times to get the junk off and have it finally fluff out without feet and wings stuck to body. Caught it just in time.

I gave the other one a little bath too and stuck it back in the bator to dry off. It's peeping its head off now with one of the others that hatched. I'm stumped as to what happen I try to keep the humidity at 45-50% for the first 18 days then up it to 70%. Would it have anything to do with the humidity during the first 18 days? Maybe it went a little high when I wasn't at home. I have no central air in the house and the bator is kept in a guest room.

The last couple of days I had chicks popping out like popcorn, except for a couple that were very similiar to what yours were like. My humidity read good the entire time but these were like glued in their shells. These were in the midst of the others having no trouble. One of them has leg issues, but I'm going to give it a couple of days. Last week I had the same kind of deal with some others...some were fine while others were terribly sticky. The batches of eggs were from 3 different sources. It's not something I've seen before.

I had some like that a couple of different times. It was a while ago
I always hatch the same temps & humidity.
I WISH I HAD TAKEN NOTES NOW.
Maybe it had to do with the time of year Temp & Humidity???????

Oh my goodness...I have never seen that before but I am glad the chick is doing well now! I would have never known what to do and the chick would probably have died. Now since you all are educating me I will know.
Gosh its nice to know there are other crazy incubating chicken lovers out there! whoohoo!

Yes, high humidity for the duration of the incubation is what I believe the cause is. At least what I attributed to why I had that experience.

I would guess your humidity guage is off by a bit. Also, if you're running 45-50 throughout, you only want to get to about 65 at the end. Sticky hatches are usually from too high humidity, but can also be from too low and improper ventilation (excessive).

I had a similar problem last year with a silky hatch but mine was due to too low of humidity during incubation. It was so frustrating to see 14 eggs develop all the way to hatching and then the chicks be so sticky that they could not even zip around without help. I only managed to salvage 7. I was trying to troubleshoot some problems I was having and decided to try the Dry Incubation method. That does not work for me at all. All the chicks were so sticky they could not even turn. The membranes were not dried, just really sticky.
