Dropped Dead

I have had 2 of my Orp just drop dead in the last week. They are a little over 2 months old and both seemed healthy. One I was fine in the morning, then found dead in the afternoon. The other died last night in the coup. They have been free ranging in the yard. Maybe they are eating something in the yard that is poisonous?

So sorry that you lost your chickens.

There are ailments that could cause chickens death, and free-ranging chickens could consume poisons that could kill them. a necropsy would be the only way to determine the actual cause of their deaths.

Yes from what I have heard, loss comes with having chickens. Ofen you can identify what the cause of death is...but sometimes it is just a mystery. Hopefully something that will occur only very, very rarely.
