I have had to coop mine up for various reasons now and then, and they get mad, too. I know the glare well. Lol.
As far as time of day, it can vary. Whrn mine first started laying, it was completely random...sometimes at night, sometimes afternoon or evening, and sometimes in the morning. Three of mine are laying, and now they have been laying in the morning, but it is getting later each day. I have read that the average time between egg production is around 26 hours, so technically they will continue to lay a little later each day, and cycle through, missing a day here or there.
