Drought has dried up all my grass! What are you feeding?

Aspen, my geese LOVE watermelon and tomatoes!
They dive into them like a pack of Pirahnas!
I envy you! I've always wanted a Jersey cow.

I was in shock today, or last night I should say. Chatting with a customer who has turned into a good friend and she pays 8-9$ per watermelon. Then again I pay that for crap grass hay so.

I saw watermelon here for over 4.00 I just can't bring myself to pay that for one and most of the time they have no taste, Where are the sweet tasting watermelons of my youth.?

Don't you hate it when you get a watermelon that tastes like a cucumber?!

Those are the ones my geese get.
I throw them the rinds of the ones we eat as well as cobs from fresh corn on the cob.
All good tasty treats for my goosies.

Cottage Rose ~ We actually have three Jerseys. All three girls need to be bred, I'd love to get some semen from a Mini Jersey bull and start raising Mini Jerseys. They are ADORABLE! However, they still produce just as much milk, they are just as cute, eat less, and don't take up much space...like Bantams! LOL Plus you can have more of them! Off subject..back to Geese... ; )

Actually, a farmer had a patch of Water melons and a bunch of wild hogs got into them and tore them off the vines (so they wouldn't grow anymore), so he told us to go get some. We got four of them. One wasn't any good, so the waterfowl got it. : ) It looked like all the geese and ducks were bleeded after they ate it! LOL They scared me a couple of times! I thought OMGoodness what did they get into, why are they bleeding?? Hehe
