The woman that won the lottery said in another article that she has two houses which means she had one before lotto and was unemployed getting welfare and food stamps while buying a home at 24 years old, single with 2 kids. No wonder we have a welfare problem.

Rest easy, they pulled her public assistance.

She's kind of an extreme case but there's got to be a lot of people who get onto food stamps and welfare when they are on hard times in their life but when they improve and become more stable many of them don't inform the state and they continue getting their monthly check. It would probably cost a fortune to employ people to do checks on welfare recipients. It's a vicious cycle. They lose money to fraud or lose money to prevent fraud. I guess they should just figure out which costs less.

She was on welfare making a house payment. Welfare should not pay that well. At24 very few single women with kids can afford to buy that are NOT on welfare so I see no reason that welfare should pay for a home. My guess is if she is really as stupid as she seems that her husband left her with the home and she most likely was not having an easy time making the bills. Maybe it is an act. Or she is like millions of young American women and has sperm donors and cannot keep a decent man. Just a guess.

I know others in my area that are on welfare, buying a house through HUD. The father of 3 women has all his daughters on welfare with a couple kids and they are getting SSI, foodstamps, low income housing, diability from OTJ injuries, welfare and free food from food banks while Dad rents the house they live in to the girls through the HUD program.

Buying a home is almost always cheaper than renting, not the other way around... But that assumes she does not own the home outright.

Not sure I see 2 kids at 24 as unusual..... Nor do I see any reason for insulting her or women in general for being single....
